One friend I brought there also ordered shrimp tacos. I will still take people there, but will never buy that food again. This has happened the last 3 out of 4 times. I was embarrassed for bringing my friends there. I went there two days ago and it was dry, flat crunchy, garbage. The fish and chips they started selling 5 years ago was much improved, good thick, juicy, flaky fish. I go there all the time( or at least across the hwy to watch surf etc), and eat there whenever I have visitors who want to go. Since then it has fallen into the same old junk they used to sell. I wrote a review a few years ago, when they actually had improved their food and service and everything about the place. I'm glad we went as we had fun, and I paid a premium for the lesson of fighting the nostalgic urge to go to this little seafood place and never coming here again.

The parking lot was fast and easy though. Also, their bathroom situation is port-o-potties that were in definitely in need of service. We spent nearly $150 for a family of four and my daughter is TWO! Literally my two year old's meal of a hot dog, fries and lemonade was $17 without tax or tip. They even charge you if you want extra salad dressing. We each got a regular 20oz plastic bottle of coke (currently 4.29 for a 6 pack at Target). This was the most basic burger you could ever imagine: $18. I ordered a Burger as a lettuce wrap (no bun) and asked for a salad instead of fries. $12 for literally a regular hotdog and some fries. it's the other stuff where they nickel and dime you that adds up. I can understand seafood being expensive. The menu is large, so that's all good.īut sadly, I remembered why I stopped coming here those years ago.

It's quite lovely.īefore you get in line, you chose your drink some several coolers, which is kind of fun. there's no question that the best thing about Neptune's Net is easily its AMAZING location with ocean views. The idea of an oceanside seafood restaurant carries a certain nostalgia which is why I'm always tempted to go. For some reason, despite not having visited Neptune's Net for years. MoreĪs a native New Englander, whenever a beach day in Malibu ends, I find myself craving legit seafood. *Taste & quality is OK at best - nothing to write home about and they definitely can do better.Īlthough this is a popular and somewhat iconic stop along the most beautiful part of PCH, if time's on your side, I find Reel Inn in Malibu next to Topanga Canyon Road to be much better and price about the same. *Surprisingly, the fish options are limited to Mahi, Salmon and Tuna, which makes me believe they aren't fresh and just supplied by Sysco as this matches every other mid to low-tier restaurant. $20 for a fish entree which includes two small pieces of fish + a scoop of Cole slaw, + a scoop of rice. *Great example of a traditional SoCal roadside fish stand, so worth the experience of West Coast living. *Free parking in their adjacent lot - although it can only accommodate around 50 spots, I'd guess. *Wide variety of packaged drinks (including beers) in their wall coolers. *Beautiful setting with outdoor deck seating overlooking PCH and the ocean. *Decent variety of fish and seafood - presume (and certainly hope) all is 100% fresh since it's x from the Pacific Ocean. As we're all aware, a long line does not always mean high quality or guaranteed good experience. This is very popular among locals and tourists, so good to have a Plan B if you drive by and see what I'm talking about. This food was un-eatable and your stunning view is a hill. If you are looking for bad somewhat eatable food, with a stunning view don’t eat here. The customer service here is non-existent. The only oceanfront view we got was a large hill blocking the view of the ocean. Online it’s advertised good food with oceanfront stunning view. We ate the fries and threw the rest in the trash. My husband will eat anything and he wouldn’t eat the fish or shrimp or crab cake.

I bit into the first piece of fried shrimp, and it was uncooked. The food was all frozen and then deep-fried, and even though it came right out to us, it was lukewarm. and foremost, the cook took our raw crab Patty, and smashed it down on the grill with his bare hands, no gloves on. I just can’t believe that people like this place. Me and my husband had lunch there and I cannot even put into words how horrendous experience was. I had researched places to eat in Malibu for our vacation.
